The Saturday Six for May 30, 2009

>> Saturday, May 30, 2009

It's been awhile since I posted one of these, hope you find something here you will enjoy! :0)

1.) Cynthia's Cottage Design
This blog will give you "feast for the imagination" for literally hours. Packed with photos of all of her pretty things, if you struggle with coveting, beware! :0) Seeing how she uses all her pretty reds and blues has me rethinking my plans to redo our color scheme here in our home. I'm afraid my husband won't go for all that lacy, embroidered stuff though, I need a play house! Maybe I can talk him into adding that to his long to-do list this summer! :o) By the way, Cynthia was who led me to this next real gem of a find . . . .

Sugar Pie Farmhouse

2.)Aunt Ruthie's Sugar Pie Farmhouse
This is where you'll find ideas to help make your home as sweet as Sugar Pie! Aunt Ruthie is a Mama on a mission! She wants to encourage homemakers of all ages to turn their hearts back home and create a warm and cozy nest for their loved ones. We can't control what happens in the world, but we can do a lot of things to make sure our home is safe, secure and filled with comfort, joy and love. It's all about blessing those who are dear to our hearts! While you're there, be sure to join the Sugar Pie Sisterhood, I just did! I don't want to miss a thing that Aunt Ruthie has to offer!

3.)Silverwinds Blog Fun
Looking to give your blog a fun face lift? Then look no further than Silverwinds! Unless of course you're a complete perfectionist control freak like me! I've been thinking about a little face lift myself lately, yes, I miss my reds and blue, thanks in part to spending TOO much time at the aforementioned sites (#1 and #2), but, it's not high on my list this summer, maybe late summer! :0)

4.) A High and Noble Calling
Bringing glory to God as Homemakers, Wives and Mothers. This is a lovely blog with a lot of inspirational content! I would tell you more about it's author, except that she is currently re-doing her "About Me" page. A few of the posts that particularly interested me were on her "Bare Bones Budget". Our family is looking for ways to save a few dollars here and there, I think I might have to spend some more time reading over some of her ideas!

5.) Homeschool Goodies
Resources for Catholic Homeschoolers. I've mentioned before that our family is not Catholic, but that we incorporate many elements of the Catholic faith into our own home and family life. This website has a plethora of resources that are useful whether you are Catholic or not. Just this week I was reminded of Barnes & Nobles Summer Reading Plan and to register for Book It! This is a wonderful site to put in your favorites!

6.)Faith Filled Days in the Domestic Church
A great resource for ideas for following the Liturgical Year! Plus, one of my favorite Catholic bloggers is a contributor here, Jessica, from Shower of Roses!

So there you have it, nesters! Hope you have a F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S weekend!

Affectionately,
Mother Titmouse

My Daybook for Monday, May 18, 2009

>> Monday, May 18, 2009

Outside my window... after days and days of rain, this morning the sun is shining and the skies are blue, although the house was so chilly when I first got up I actually turned on the heater to warm it up a bit! I am really ready for warmer, sunnier weather!

I am thinking...honestly, that I'm feelin a little out of sorts this morning, and I'm not sure what that's all about, probably hormonal!

I am thankful for...the unconditional love and forgiveness of our children. I had a mommy moment on Saturday with Little Chickadee (I guess I've actually been out of sorts for a few days now).

From the learning rooms...except for end of the year testing, we are finished until August 3.

From the kitchen...tonight will be leftovers from our big meal yesterday. I LOVE leftovers and days off in the kitchen!

I am wearing...still in my pajamas, but as soon as I finish this post, I'm in my workout clothes and going for my 2 mile walk.

I am creating...well, if priming and painting a bedroom falls under being "creative", that's what I'll be doing today.

I am going...to lunch with a dear friend and then to help her out with a project afterwards on Wednesday and regular weeking grocery shopping on Thursday.

I am reading...lots of blogs and websites trying to develop a plan for Geography next year.

I am hoping... to get over this mood slump and feel peaceful in my spirit again.

I am hearing... the house is quiet. Little Chickadee is sleeping in and dh and Jenny Junco are both gone for the day to work and school.

Around the house...finish priming and painting Little Chickadee's room and get the girls back in their own bedrooms.

One of my favorite things... sunlight in the trees in the early morning.

A few plans for the rest of the week...I always feel like I've covered this when I get to this question, I guess see: I am going, I am creating, Around the house. I think I'm going to have to revise this question because it always annoys me (sorry, Peggy). It just seems a bit redundant, or maybe I don't get it, maybe the other questions are meant just for today and this is where I'm supposed to cover the rest of the week? Then again, this question is probably buggging me today because I'm pernsnickety and out of sorts! Isn't my post this week just so uplifting! :0)

Another Great Verse for a Character Card

>> Thursday, May 14, 2009

I mentioned recently that I had taken to typing out quotes and placing them strategically throughout the house to assist in helping to form the girl's character. Well, today I ran across this lovely little phrase and wanted to share. This will be somewhere in our house before the weekend is over! :0)

The youth replies, "I can."

The Simple Woman's Daybook for May 11, 2009

>> Monday, May 11, 2009

Outside my window... it's late as I am writing this, 11:46 p.m. EST to be exact, so it's dark! :0) Today was very cool, I actually had to put on a sweater, and rainy most of the day, but cleared nicely this afternoon.

I am thinking...that's it's been awhile since I posted! I've been too busy living and doing life to write about it here!

I am thankful for...that my husband and my girls were not harmed in a what ended up being a minor accident yesterday, but had the potential to have been very serious or even fatal. At the last minute the other car swerved and barely missed hitting our truck, which was parked and our girls were in it! God and His angels were with us!

From the learning rooms...wrapping up the last two weeks of school for this year before we take a two month break, then we're back at it again in August!

From the kitchen...We had steak and baked potatoes for dinner tonight, my belated Mother's Day dinner in lieu of the aftermath of the accident I mentioned above.

I am wearing...my pajamas and still in a sweater, it's still very cool in the house.

I am creating...lesson plans for our next school year and thinking through what is working and what's not.

I am going...no where this week, well, with the exception of groceries on Thursday. Divine!

I am reading...Mondays with Mary by Meredith Henning which I just received on Saturday! I can't wait to incorporate this into our school year next year!

I am hoping... to finalize my plans about what new books to order this week, and sell some of the things that aren't working for us to help cover the costs.

I am hearing... Cheaper by the Dozen (the original version with Clifton Webb and Myrna Loy, which that Steve Martin knock off can't hold a candle too, by the way). It's Old Movie Monday! Every Monday night I stay up late and treat myself to an old movie.

Around the house...we've been busy, busy, busy, which is why I haven't posted much. We stripped the wallpaper in Jenny Junco's room and painted it, and now have moved on to Little Chickadee's room. We put in our first garden in years last week and now we're anxiously watching it grow! We're adding on an addition to our storage shed, re-doing our rabbit pin to make room for rabbits that will hopefully actually breed!, and then adding a chicken coop and a playhouse for the girls! Now do you see why I haven't been online! WHEW!

One of my favorite things...the smell of the earth after rain, although honestly, I'm a little tired of the rain! :0)

A few plans for the rest of the week...Sand, prime and pain Little Chickadee's room, finish the storage shed extension, finalize plans for the bunny pen and chicken coop, continue working on curriculum plans for next year, end of year testing.
